The Peña rock head in the image of an Indian hero is another local gem; its large shape can be seen for miles as if it were the guardian of the farmlands and landscapes of the place.

There are also historical Dolmen sites displaying megalithic stone architecture that are uniquely positioned as passages and chambers for funeral rituals. The 19th century Menga cove was excavated to unearth hundreds of skeletons in an inner chamber.

The natural limestone formation of its mountain range is another natural wonder at Antequera which took millions of years to form the diverse rock formations found here.

Antequera town has a plethora of places of worship; many of which were built decades ago. There is no lack of fascinating architectural monuments that go as far back as the 13th century that draw many visitors to this place. The infamous Moorish Alcazaba castle and the Najera Palace are some highlights which Antequera offers along with the exquisite Roman baths and 1585 Giants’ Arch.
