Impressive Attractions at Ronda By Bronislaw Huberman at 2012-10-15 04:40:29

The town of Ronda may seem overwhelmed by the looming mountains around it. Its strategic location at the majestic sierra ridge offers a lot of spectacular panorama as well as drama. The imposing El Tajo river gorge separates the town surroundings with a natural beauty of a straight drop that is at least 130 meters at three sides.
Natural Attractions
Ronda town is located at the fourth side that makes it so spectacular with a beautifully arched bridge that was built in the 18th century across the river gorge. This is the famous Puente Nuevo which attracts a lot of tourists to Ronda. The bridge may look dangerous but its majestic presence blends well with the numerous tall whitewashed homes of Ronda that perch precariously at the ledges.
The natural landscape around Ronda forms another beautiful attraction with the luscious countryside that entices the locals and tourists for a stroll. This would take one along RÃo Guadalévin around Ronda town for a great overview.
There are several well taken tracks that may seem challenging but surprisingly satisfying. Some paths lead through luscious green valleys with a scent of fresh air to strollers. The myriad of feathered species around the place would delight bird watchers which bring them back year after year. These are hopeful in catching a sight of some lesser known kestrels that normally nest at the cliffs of the mountain.
Ronda also offers a nature park known as Alameda Park which hosts a plethora of fauna and flora. Here, various exotic and near extinct fauna as well as crag martins can be sighted. The park is close to Ronda which makes it very convenient for one and all to enjoy. The sparse land encourages many to stroll through to enjoy the cool surroundings and the best of nature.
Historical attractions
The history of Ronda is colorful with its Mercadillo quarter, Moorish Ciudad and southern suburb.
Ronda’s Moorish Ciudad developed a lot of colorful culture and traditions with quaint Moorish houses along stylish Renaissance mansions. The Ciudad is uniquely set in a labyrinth of roads which makes an interesting stroll of discovery as tourists wander around.
The 18th century Rey Moro castle poses excellently as an ancient Moorish mansion with well maintained gardens that are opened to the public. There is a remarkable Mina which is an underground stairway of 365 steps leading to the river. Its high balcony allows an onlooker to enjoy some spectacular sights such as the Tajo tower rock walls and bird species.
